We provide the following services animal rescue, adoptions, medical care, and humane education.

  Lost and Found Friends

Dogs

Cats

Please contact the Athens City Shelter at 744 - 2747 or the McMinn Regional Humane Society at 744 - 9548 and we will try to help find your pet. Even if you live in the county, animals travel far and sometimes they may end up at the City Shelter. The Daily Post Athenian will be happy to run an ad free of charge in the paper to help advertise your lost pet.

Also, check with your mail carriers and U.P.S. carrier. They are very good contact points to see a lost animal. Display as many flyers as you can, especially around food establishments. Offering a reward, however small, seems to help.

Be a responsible pet owner!!!
The Humane Society of the United States lists these basic pet needs:
  • Food and water - provide fresh water and food daily
  • Shelter - provide dry, warm, safe places for your pets. Indoor pets live longer, healthier lives.
  • Exercise - walks are important for dogs
  • Training - dog obedience training can reduce behavior problems later on
  • Veterinary care - provide regular checkups by a veterinarian; have illnesses and injuries promptly treated.
  • Spay and neuter - help reduce the unwanted animal population; sterilized pets live longer
  • Identification - a name tag can help return a lost pet to its home
  • Be humane - don't abandon animals to fend for themselves; find them a good home or call the McMinn Regional Humane Society at 744-9548.
